Has anyone else stopped their HRT

I'm not sure that HRT is working for me. I am late peri meno (I'm 58 and still bleeding somewhat).
I have mirena, vaginal utrogestan, evorel patches and testogel.
I have in the last few weeks started bleeding every day combined with period pains.
I've requested a GP callback and requested an ultrasound and I know they have to investigate unusual bleeding in my age.

However, my mum and my sister both had heavy bleeding, flooding and fibroids and had hysterectomies. I just wonder if I had not started with the HRT would I have been the same? Maybe I would have got a hysterectomy years ago.

I know a hysterectomy isn't an easy thing to have done, but I am really done with all of this and wonder if I can request one?

Obviously I will have to go with the advice of my GP so I will wait for their callback.

Hello, do you have fibroids? I do and the initial stages of HRT seemed to inflame them, but it has died down. I think I’ve now officially entered menopause, before I still had the odd period. Also late 50s. All my female relatives had late meno but had had hysterectomies in their 40s from fibroids.

Its unusual that your Mirena isn't controlling the bleeding.

If you have a scan with someone who knows what they're doing, they should also be able to see if you've any eggs (follicles) left and are ovulating. That would be highly unlikely at 58 so maybe you're not in peri at all? That sort of scan really needs a consultant gynae not a 'scanner'.

Depending how bad your peri symptoms are, you could try reducing your estrogen patch (assume it's 50mcgs?) which would probably lessen the bleeding.

@Melassa
Yes I have fibroids. I had an ultrasound in 2022 and some were found also a polyp which was removed.
I have now had an ultrasound (external and internal) last week. The scanner did not make any comment apart from I will get the results from the GP within the next 2 weeks.
I have also been sent an appointment to see the consultant gynaecologist again (I saw them in 2022 and he removed the polyp).

@JinglingSpringbells
I am on 125mg of evorel patches. I have been advised to reduce to 100mg and then to 75mg hopefully. I will reduce to 100mg today and I have the gynae appointment in 10 days time.
