I have just been told about this when I went to collect my prescription. I had no idea, so I thought I'd share in case it's of use to anyone here. £20 a year instead of the usual £9+ it is per script

It's so great! You're right to highlight it. I take full advantage since it came in, although now that I have the Mirena my prescriptions gave lessened (no more utrogestran)

Hello WinterFrog, thank you for letting us know. I'm not taking any HRT, maybe in the near future. If you buy the HRT PPC, do you get all your HRT medicines all free for one year?
Thanks again.

WinterFrog · 10/01/2025 06:41

That's what it looks like to me, @Harmonyrose. The link I shared above contains another link to the hrt meds that are covered.

Yes you just pay an annual fee and then prescriptions are free for the year, you get a certificate to show at the pharmacy.

Hormone creams are covered too e.g. Ovestin.

Hiya. Thanks girls, I'm glad this is good for all women. 😉The NHS website current prescription charge is £9.90 per item.xx

Yes a colleague told me about this. Neither my doctor or pharmacy assistant mentioned it!

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 11/01/2025 19:05

The pharmacist told me about it - they keep my number on my file so I don't have to find it each time I go.

fruitpastille · 11/01/2025 19:51

My pharmacist told me too when I picked up my first hrt prescription. It's great. I now just fill in an online repeat prescription request then pick it up a couple of days later and no need to show the certificate.

Shocking, isn't it? It's why I thought I'd share here because none of the phamacy staff have mentioned it before. It was an assistant who I haven't seen before and she asked me if I'd heard of it, because her mum has one.
