No period for 6 months - could this be it? Late peri-menopause

I'm not happy about it, I'm not ready for it and wanted another baby so I am so angry with my body..but I have now not had a period since July last year and that one was horrendous. Heavy, bright red blood, leaking through everything and the clots that came from me were huge. I could feel them passing out of me.

I have the odd hot flush during the day but not every day and am often warm during the night and can wake up wet on my neck and chest but its not every night.

What was your late peri menopause like? I have just turned 44 btw

I am 43 and am definately in peri, I have a friend who was there by 40. Yes people sometimes don't stop until much later, but it doesn't sound that early either. Yours sounds much like mine. I'm sorry if it has stopped earlier than you wanted.

Unfortunately nothing I can do to change it. It makes me so sad that I’m not ready for this time yet I can’t stall it

I had a couple of episodes in my mid/late 40s where I had 4 - 6 months without periods. My last period was November 2023 when I was 50.

The thinking on this has changed slightly but it's not filtered through to written guidance across the board.

Although 45 is considered 'okay' there is info on Menopause Matters by a consultant gynae (NHS) who says that in Western societies, 47 is considered the earliest 'healthy' start of post meno.
51 is the average age.

Many specialists would suggest HRT from 44-51ish at least for bone protection.

Think I’ll contact the gp this week

I'm 40 and for the past year have had irregular periods, missing periods and a shift in my PMT. I've had bad acne and rosacea which flares up during my cycle.
Although my periods are irregular I now get a hormonal headache 2 days before my period which is new (it's nice to get a heads up but this is awful) I'm also experiencing insomnia, hot and cold flashes and nocturnal panic attacks during ovulation when I've tracked it....there's definitely something amiss and it does fit with perimenopause from what I've read.

The things we go through. Why is it men don’t have any of this and can even have kids right until the end but we can’t🥺

My perimenopause symptoms started aged 39, about 3 months into my post natal period after my youngest daughter was born. I initially thought it was post natal depression but now realise it was perimenopause.

I actually wonder whether the fact I started my periods very young at aged 10 that I had more chance of going through menopause earlier.
