Has anyone's eyesight dramatically changed in peri (though I understand this can be age!)

One of my eyes has worsened by nearly 2 points.

Yes by 4 points and 3.5 points, I'm late 40's, also gained weight. I'm on hrt. Peri symptoms areso hard, harder than teenage years, never suffered with spots or moods, harder than 4 pregnancy, did have miscarriages but that was heartbreaking, didn't effect my health.

Thanks @Ohdearwhatnow4

Did your Optician explain the difference?
Mine attributed it to pregnancy?

I'm the same minus HRT - trying Menopace!

Oddly enough I felt like superwoman during pregnancies!

@JustLaura what’s the actual numerical change? Are you short or long sighted? It’s less usual for short-sighted people to get worse in middle age, unless they’re getting a mild cataract, although astigmatism component can often change slightly.

Oh that's interesting. What's the reason for that? I have always been a little long sighted and my eyesight has got significantly worse during my 40s. I need my glasses to see now most of the time whereas most of my life I could make do without them. I also now need varifocals. My DH is.short sighted and has always needed his glasses but his vision hasn't really worsened at all during the same period.

It's ageing.

You can't blame peri for everything.

Women can get dry eyes post menopause and ironically, one of the signs is watering eyes.

As you age, the lens which sits behind your pupil and used to easily change shape allowing you to see distance and close objects clearly gets harder.
it’s called presbyopia.

This means that it can’t change shape as easily, so close objects become more blurred. it also usually makes you less short sighted.

Well you've confused me!

Yes it does seem counter intuitive, but here you are- NHS symptoms of dry eyes. Last bullet point- eyes watering more.

I'm short sighted.

Now it's:
Right eye: -4.25 Sph. -0.50 Cyl. Axis 65.
Left eye: -3.00 Sph. -0.25. Axis 120.

I think I do have an astigmatism. Is that the axis?

yes, that’s related to the cyl and axis.
what was your prescription previously?

Thanks @theeyeofdoe

Approx 2 years prior it was:
Right eye: -2.75 Sph. -0.50 Cyl. Axis 70.
Left eye: -2.25 Sph. -0.25 Cyl. Axis 120.

I missed a test due to the pandemic and I also gave birth again.
