Bleeding on Evoril Conti

I’m 55, was on Evoril Sequi from Nov 21 then moved to Evoril Conti in Feb 23. Have been absolutely fine but on Friday had cramping pain then yesterday some dark brown spotting that has now become heavier and thicker. Still having some cramping. Should I be worried?

Make an appt with your GP. Anything serious is very rare on HRT but you still need it checking out because it's almost 2 years since you started on combined continuous HRT.

As a guide, the British Menopause Society now suggests moving from sequential to continuous after 5 years (unless a woman is definitely post meno when they start hrt) partly to try to avoid break through bleeding from their own hormones.

Please see your GP, you need referral to gynae to take a closer look at why you are bleeding. (Brown discharge is old blood). They will also examine and, depending on sexual history, probably swab. Don’t be alarmed as they may (and should) refer you under the ‘2 week wait’ pathway. If they don’t refer you under two week pathway, ask why (there are some new NICE guidelines that clearly state bleeding more than 12m after last bleed in women 55 years and over post menopause needs referral to rule out cancers). Sorry to be blunt - Most times it isnt anything nasty, but it is important to rule it out ASAP for obvious reasons.
