I take progesterone nightly 100 PV with my oestrogen- stupidly I missed a couple of evenings this week and I'm having a break through bleed. I've only just started on this regime from using it every 14 days.
Will the bleeding just stop if I carry on with the 100 per night ? I'm annoyed with myself as I changed as I didn't want the breakthrough bleed !!!
Both times I forgot to take it in the evening. I took it in the morning.

I think you'll probably just stop having the bleed after a few days. Though if you're not post menopause I don't think utrogestan will stop any periods you might have.

Yes I'm post menopause- hope it stops !

When changing to combined continuous hrt, breakthrough bleeding is common for up to 6 months. Your GP should have explained this. It can take 6 months for the lining to become thin enough never to bleed. You can find a detailed explanation of this on Menopause Matters website/ HRT/ types/ post menopause.

So the missed doses might not be the reason - but you just need to keep taking it every day.

@JinglingSpringbells I've got some other physical problems at the moment so I think it would probably be best for me to back to the 12 days progesterone in the month at the moment . Will I be able to just switch back ? I'm about one week into the one a day .

Yes, you can do that. If you're a week into 100mgs daily, just start doing 200mgs for another 10 days or so.

Thanks @JinglingSpringbells I'll do that . It's probably best I don't mess with anything at the moment , I'm getting used to another medication .
