Coming off HRT - what were your experiences

I've tried HRT for a year and just don't think I've seen any benefits from it. I think it may have marginally improved my sleep but very very marginal benefit and my endo/adenomyosis has got worse if anything (though hard to know if it would have anyway).

I've decided to stop this week as I've got a few weeks off work so if I have any side effects, hopefully it will be when I'm not at work.

Just wondered if anyone else has done this and what their experience was. I'm having bad cramps today (stopped both progesterone and oestrogel yesterday) so I expect I'll get a period/withdrawal bleed shortly!

Hi there - I stopped HRT cold turkey around nine months ago and suffered no side effects whatsoever. I was on progesterone tablets and Everol patches but on too high a dose so was suffering with a number of side effects from these meds. GP wasn't confident re treatment plan so referred me to Menopause clinic which took a few months so I decided to stop the meds in the meantime. I felt better almost immediately. I have since gone to private menopause clinic and just started a different type of medication mostly for the symptoms of extremely heavy periods and insomnia. I did focus on diet and nutrition and exercise during the time off medication - sauna and massively reducing caffeine also helped as well as chaga mushroom supplement. Hopefully you will have a smooth transition

Thanks. Out of interest, what did they suggest for your insomnia?
