Anyone stop thinking about food as much on HRT?

I have recently started on Oestrogel and micronised progesterone (2 weeks of cycle)
I have lots of crippling symptoms and haven't noticed a difference yet in most areas other than the joint pain has gone away thankfully.
One that I didn't expect is I've realised I really don't think about fancying food if that make sense? I used to constantly crave sweet stuff but now I'll just eat something when I'm hungry and I'm really not bothered the rest of the time.

No, unfortunately i didn’t get that.

I want what you’re having - my dream would be HRT with microdosed ozempic included.

iamyourequal · 19/12/2024 22:18

I definitely have a bigger appetite on the 2 weeks with Utrogestan. It took me ages to realise though. I’m often trying to lose weight and realized I did much better at dieting on the non-progesterone weeks but my willpower was zilch on the Utrogestan weeks and I massively craved carbs!

No. Been on mj since May weight going on. Diabetic levels remain very good but that is it and to be fair they always have.

Should have had thyroid levels checked when starting HRT I learnt but this frankly never happened. Been on thyroxine since 1991 since I last blew up for a joke.

Active 7 days a week. Periods back. Been on GLP’s now over the 2 years which were never really allowed.

I have mirena & an evorel patch & I'm the same. I’m hardly ever hungry, I still eat regularly but only small meals. I used to be a right pig before, always snacking. I’ve given up alcohol aswell.

I've only been on it a month but I've noticed I'm not feeling the need to binge. I wonder if it's simply because I'm actually more level mood wise (also on citalopram) rather than it being the HRT

Thanks for sharing, interesting to hear experiences of others
Sorry to hear some people are really struggling. @Ladymuck2022 that sounds so tough, what are the doctors saying?

Definitely noticed this (I'm on Evorel 75 and progesterone for 14 days on/ 14 days off). I also think it's because my moods are more stable and I no longer suffer insomnia and sleep well again.

Was worried I'd put weight on going on HRT, but have lost about 10lbs.

I have notice I don't eat as much. It's a pleasant side effect

menopausalfart · 20/12/2024 23:56

I have been taking Trisequens for 3 years and have moved to Evorel Conti. I've noticed that I'm not eating half as much as I was on the Trisequens.

RedToothBrush · 21/12/2024 00:31

Yes. I've really struggled with sugar cravings over the last year or so. To the point that I was hiding chocolate from DH. I'd been trying to stop it, but had been finding it impossible.

That's stopped dead.

I think the main thing is my sleep has improved and that's been driving it.

I am hoping that I can keep it up over Christmas as the last couple of years I've not done well with food.

creamsnugjumper · 21/12/2024 00:35

Can I ask why are people cycling the progesterone, why not just continuously and then you don't get the periods or cycles.

Just curious, also I put on lots of weight in the first 6 months of HRT but I've flipped totally and now don't even feel hungry and lost the weight.

So I assumed my body maybe thought I was pregnant or something, so wanted all the food, I even craved similar food to my pregnancies.
