Spotting in between periods

I have been on hrt for 3 years now. 2 months ago I reduced my oestrogen from 75mg to 50mg and since then have had a small amount of bleeding between periods. Is this likely to be related to reducing oestrogen or should I get it checked out? I also stopped using testosterone at this time.

i get this and haven't reduced my HRT

Always get it checked out. You need to be sure of the cause.

Are you doing anything about it, did you find out the cause?

Thank you, I was wondering though if it is normal when reducing dose and if I should give it another month or so to settle?

i'm guessing it's just par for the course and will stop eventually once get through the menspause 🤷‍♀️

it's best to go to your GP who may arrange a scan.

It's probably nothing but any bleeding needs looking at.

The more likely reason is that the 75mcg patch caused your lining to get thicker (and usually they'd suggest increasing the progesterone each month on that dose.)

Thank you. I though 200mg was the recommended dose though for up to 100mg patches? If I up my utrogestan to 300mg now will the lining correct itself?

I also have low ferritin, could this be the cause?

Patches that are 25/37/ 50 = 200mgs Utrogestan.
Patches that are 75/100 = 300mgs Utrogestan IF there is bleeding outside the regular cycle.

Your GP ought to be managing this and advising.

The info came from the British Menopause Society some time ago. I've linked to it here several times if you want to try a search- BMS/ HRT/ progesterone dose/ guide.

You can't be sure the bleeding will correct itself which is why you should see your GP.
