My suggestion would be to go back to your GP to get a urine sample tested by the lab to check for bacterial infection and ask for topical oestrogen cream or pessaries. Lack of oestrogen causes vaginal atrophy and the symptoms mimic UTI. It is really important to try the oestrogen to see if it helps. It is a tiny dose but it makes a huge difference. Get a good barrier cream to sooth the stinging. Epaderm is very soothing. Also, when you have vaginal atrophy you become much more susceptible to UTIs because as the tissues shrink, the urethra is stretched open and bacteria can get in.
