Oestrogel dosage

It's my first month of using oestrogel and pills (swapped from patches) and it says the gel pump contains 64 metered doses. I use 2 a day so that's 32 days......but i've used it for 34 days and it wasn't empty, I'm sure I'll get today out of it too. Is this normal? It pumps easily so i don't think I've "under pumped" and I've definitely not missed a day and have only got 1 bottle open.

I think it's normal! I also use two pumps.

JinglingSpringbells · 12/12/2024 15:01

Totally normal. I've used it for years and usually get another 2-3 days out of it beyond the 32.

DramaAlpaca · 12/12/2024 15:41

I agree, it's normal.

Christmaseason · 12/12/2024 15:42

That’s normal.

great, thanks all! Glad to know it's not just me!
I'm baffled as to why the pills come in packs for 30 but I have to take two a day for 14 days and the gel is in 32 doses but clearly lasts longer! It would be a lot easier if each was just a month or half a month.

My other medications come in packs of 28 and the pharmacy have to cut up a different pack to make it up to 30 or 31. It makes no sense at all!!

Hi I’m 67 and taking Kliovance for several years and started spotting a couple of weeks ago last year I had scans and all healthy so decided to stop taking it I’ve reduced the dose for the last two days but now the bleeding is more like a my period I wonder if I should reduce the dose to every other day to reduce the hormone level more or just carry on and see if it stops eventually?

MiddleAgedDread · 13/12/2024 12:11

@lindae57 you should see a Doctor!!

Some women take 100mgs every day (1 tablet) so the 30 days is for them too = a month.

See your GP.
It's not clear what you're doing because you say you stopped it but are now back on it, so you had a long gap? Also at 67 your GP ought to swap you to patches or gel. Tablets are not recommended for women over 60.

You are supposed to discard the first couple of pumps, so that's an extra day gone!
