Peri menopause at 36?

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice as I'm feeling a bit lost.
Since June I've started having terrible anxiety and depression, it's been up and down due to increasing sertraline and now trying venlafaxine, but I'm noticing a huge impact certain times of the month are having on my mental health, like now for instance, I know I've ovulated 3 days ago and since then I've been so anxious and struggling to sleep, eat etc and just feeling like I'm going in a dark place again. My skin has also been very bad with acne since around June mainly around my neck and jaw which I'm seeing a specialist about but I've never dealt with these types of feelings other than when I suffered pnd around 9 years ago.

Could it be peri menopause playing havoc with my hormones? Any advice would be really appreciated x

Reading with interest but also wanted to say hope you are ok and you are doing great to take action ❤️. Have you had your bloods done recently? I’m 36 too and called my gp today just to say, I’ve not been feeling myself at all, awful anxiety over the last year, weight gain, mood swings, bloating and just feeling not like me. I hadn’t had a period for over 3 months but I do have pcos which can cause that, last week onwards though my period has been stop starting , more like brown spotting and basically lasting for about half an hour then nothing for a couple of days and so on. The doctor said she would do my bloods… I can’t get an appointment for it I’ll end of Dec but she did say they will use that to have a look. I mentioned about perimenopause and she said I was too young and it would be more likely to my pcos. I disagree with the age part, my friends sister is 37 and going through the menopause, I think they did bloods and a scan for her x

It sounds more like PCOS to me. The acne is likely to be a symptom of high testosterone.
What is your weight like? You need to look at managing your insulin levels.

Thanks for replying, I don't have pcos as I had a scan recently for the bleeding in between periods and I'm also of normal BMI so the doctor said it wouldn't be pcos.

How would I get tested for testosterone levels?

X

Thanks for replying. Yes I'm doing ok, up and down with the anxiety was hoping to be feeling better by now with the venlafaxine but back at the doctors Wednesday for check up anyway.

Going to mention to her about peri menopause see what tests they can do, this is definitely all very abnormal for me so there must be something going on!

Hope you get some answers too, so dismissive of the the doctors to say that to you x
