Can I ask for a deodorant recommendation?

Since my late teens I've always used Sure antiperspirant. Without deodorant I'm a very sweaty person so I always need an antiperspirant to stay fresh. I've tried things like Fussy and they don't work for me as I end up with huge wet patches.
I'm 42 and in early perimenopause I think (have some mild symptoms eg restless sleep). One thing I've noticed in the last month is that even though I'm quite dry under the arms I now absolutely stink by the end of the day! It's so embarrassing.
Do you have any recommendations of stronger deodorants for this stage of life?

Mitchum gel - not the roll on, stick or spray, the gel one. So much better than anything else

I have posted on here many times, I have many allergic reactions to deodorant but am sweaty. I found the Pitrok best although you still sweat but make sure you wash your pits very well, I find Sanex bar soap works very well and dry them. Then apply Pitrok by wetting I use a cool hairdryer to dry it.

I was in a similar position last summer. I tried all the sprays as i hate roll on, none worked. I gave in and bought a Vichy 72hr roll on (I'm really sensitive) it's amazing.

I have always been a sweaty person even before menopause. I limit my dairy consumption as it can exacerbate smelly armpit. I also put fresh lemon zest 2/3 times on my armpit and it works well. My deo is Dove (the skin-sensitive one).

Thanks all, I will give some of these a try

The Sure maximum protection cream ones. Not perfect but definitely better. Think there is now a spray version too.

I use a Nivea roll on, and a Sure Sensitive spray.

I came in to say this one. And also, wash with a bar of soap not shower gel

Try Perspirex overnight too.

I've been a sweaty person since puberty and menopause hasn't helped. Neither has long Covid which has left me with hyperhidrosis (amongst many other ways it's screwed up my autonomic nervous system).

For years I've used the American brand Secrets solid sticks and that's been way better than anything I've tried in the UK. (I discovered it working in the US but you can actually buy it on Amazon UK these days as well as iherb).

Then a few months ago, I heard of AKT (no idea how, probably social media) and it sounded too good to be true. But I tried it and it's fabulous! I don't smell at all even after the longest day. I remain dry too. It's not the cheapest but for me it's worth every penny and a tube lasts a long time. I'm a subscriber to AKT now and slightly obsessed with the stuff. It seems weird applying it at first but OMG it works!

I use Wild. Washing with proper soap rather than shower gel makes a big difference. Give your pits a good scrub with a soapy flannel. I like Le Petit Olivier Lemon Verbena.

Fussy works really well for me. I didn’t think a natural deodorant would work but I’d say it’s waaaaaaaay better than when I used to use Sure/ Nivea/ Dove/ Sanex/ whatever was on offer.

I had high hopes but sadly it was a big fail for me. I guess we're all slightly different chemically

Sure maximum cream is what i use most
Sanex stick seems to be mostly OK
I usually top up with spray too. Currently also a sanex one.

LostittoBostik · 27/11/2024 19:33

Doubling up is a good idea, thanks

I agree using bar soap makes a difference. I've been able to switch to using Wild or Salt of the Earth deodorant, I use bar soap to wash with first. I seem to sweat anyway when I use an antiperspirant so a good deodorant seems to keep me fresher for longer.

Am prone to be a little more fragranced than most. Have tried all deodorants and now swear by fussy (orange one). I didn’t used to believe in the organic ones but wouldn’t use anything else

Also check your clothes as sometimes they hoard smells.
