Anyone else on Desogestrel? I think it might be sending me mad

I still have my periods and am on HRT but was getting terrible period pain that has been diagnosed as adenomyosis following several scans. The specialist recommended desogestrel (progesterone only pill) and I started taking it a few months ago.

I have always had an issue with progestins - I had the mirena coil in for 6 weeks after the birth of my 2nd child before it had to be taken out in an emergency as I got covered with a horrendous rash and felt so low I could barely get out of bed. I was concerned about the Desogestrel but they managed to convince me it was a v low likelihood of side effects.

I've just realised this morning that I've woken up crying 3 times this week and I am not a crying sort of person and there's nothing in my life to be unhappy about! The only thing that has been different is me taking this sodding pill. My daughter also had to stop taking the progesterone only pill and move to a combined pill for a similar reason - so there's obviously something that runs in our family that makes us ultra sensitive to this.

If I stop taking it today, how long do you think before I feel better? I seem to recall when I had the mirena out, the rash disappeared almost immediately but it took a few weeks before I felt back to normal!

I was given Cerazette which is desogestrel by my GP to try and control my heavy periods in peri menopause . Within a couple of days I had the most dreadful low mood and horrific temper. Totally not myself at all. I swapped to Noriday which is norethisterone and was absolutely fine on it. I think it took me a couple of weeks to feel better after stopping Cerazette. It’s definitely worth going back to your GP.

thanks so much @Iheartmysmart - I will stop the pill today and try and get an appointment to discuss it!
