Perimenopause and frequent spotting

I have recently turned 52 and up until the last 3 cycles I have had fairly regular periods and not struggled too much with perimenopause.
In September I started spotting so thought my period was on its way but it never progressed past the spotting stage and this continued on and off for about 3 weeks.
The following cycle was a typical 5 day period with a couple of very heavy days, so I assumed that was just a one off odd month, but just 2 weeks later I am spotting again.

I am not on HRT and know I need to talk to my GP but getting an appointment isn’t that easy, so just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

I was suffering with this and ended up with low iron . The gynaecologist put me on the mini pill to stop my periods, which seems to have worked. I’m not on hrt .

Thank you for replying.
I have had tender breasts and stomach ache like a regular period too. It is getting me down a bit.
I have a breast cyst so don’t want to go on HRT if I don’t have to. I will get a doctor’s appointment as soon as I can, but that’s easier said than done these days. 😏

My bleeding seems a little heavier today, like the start of a regular period.
It all seems to have gone haywire suddenly in the last 3 months

Full on period this morning after about 6 days of spotting I am so fed up of this now. 😞 Still no GP appointments available.
