Ok so bare with me its long.
Im 39 years old
Ive had the mirena for years...this on is 6 years old..due to be changed at 8 years.
for the last 6 months awful symptoms
Anxiety suicidal thoughts
Depression
Hot flushes
Horrendous brain fog
No sleep
Anger of the scale !
No sex drive
Hair loss
Just complete meh!!!
Return of period (very light) every 27 days after nothing for 11 years
Itching and discomfort down below that wont go away.
Family planning said they wont remove until 8 years as it was fitted for contraception even though they have said Hormone has seemingly run out which is common.

Saw gp and shes convinced my symptoms are peri menopause related
Shes given me utrogestan and estrogen gel even though i still have the mirena in as she said we can assume hormone has run out but it will still be good for contraception..
I have to use the utrogestan 14 days on 14 days off
Havent been brave enough to start taking it yet..im scared 🤣

Anyone else had the same symptoms as me , or had the same experience with a mirena in over 5 years?
Will the hrt help??
Im 39 and didnt expect this juat yet

I had some peri symptoms (headaches. Needing a wee all the time. Not sleeping etc) and the doctor told me to try the HRT for a few months and see if it suited me and if it made no difference I can come off it, stopped the symptoms so I’ve stayed with it. There’s lots of info on Facebook etc which might be a good source to reach out to? Good luck x

Thankyou ao much for the reply

Feeling so overwhelmed by it all at the moment, really was not expecting to be feeling like this at this age.
Hoping the hrt is going to put some kind of normality back for me.

Hopefully it will ease your symptoms. Are you also having talking therapy?

I had all those symptoms but no mirena coil. Anxiety, brain fog, driving anxiety, Health anxiety, this weird kind of electric trembling sensation when falling asleep, hair falling out, palpitations, night sweats . I had to fight for HRT which they wouldn't give me until I turned 40. They then gave me Evorel (grudgingly). I also needed iron and b vitamins supplements because I was in the very lowest end of normal for those. Most of my symptoms went pretty quickly, the palpitations took longer (so were probably iron related) and my hair still falls out in handfuls. But the overwhelming feeling of impending doom stopped within 48 hours of starting the patches.

Ive never had anxiety, ive developed the most horrendous health worries.
Convinced myself last week as im bumpy down below that i have genital warts..literally made myself so ill that i couldnt eat for a week
A trip to sexual health and a check by 2 people came out that it is just infact my anatomy 🤣
The prickly feeling down below is driving me absolutely insane, i cant even say it itching now.i just feel not right , sore ish and prickly

Im not having talking therapy but i think im going to make another gp appointment

Last night i cried looking at pics of me from last year as i just dont feel like that anymore 😭

Start the HRT, bear with it and keep checking in with your GP so long as she’s well read on menopausal issues. You should put up with any of the symptoms you’ve described
