Progesterone only for perinenopause symptoms

Been having perinenopause symptoms (insomnia, night swears, anxiety, heavy and slightly irregular periods). I am 46.

Sleep is now so bad that I went to get medical advice. I am not in the UK and we have a doctor shortage so I can only easily see a Nurse Practitioner via internet chat. She said they can't prescribe HRT but she could offer progesterone only.

Has anyone found that progesterone only helps? I will try it and see too. Should I attempt to find a doctor to prescribe oestrogen too? Any reading recommendations appreciated as Google turning up mostly just articles from pharmaceutical companies that sell progesterone. But there are a few journal articles that say progesterone only can help.

What kind of progesterone?
If it's prescription-only how does that differ from offering you HRT when progesterone is part of HRT?

It's micronized progesterone 200mg. I have no idea why they can prescribe that and not oestrogen too.

That doesn't make sense to me at all. It's the drop and fluctuations in oestrogen that causes most symptoms, and the progesterone is mostly added to ensure the womb lining is protected from any unwanted effects of the oestrogen.
Progesterone is generally the part of hrt that causes problems such as low mood, exhaustion etc, but has to be added for the womb. Can't see it helping with sweats etc

Thanks @pamspeople. I have the balance app and it is very good. I think I may have to pay privately to see a proper in person doctor to get some better advice.

Best of luck with it all
