Switching to Mirena coil from utrogestan tablets

I take cyclical utrogestan at the moment plus oestrogen patch (switched from gel).

I'm getting the Mirena fitted next weekend on recommendation from GP and Gynaecologist to see if steadier hormones help with migraines.

Has anyone done this or have advice on the switch? I'll be in week 3 of my cycle so will have taken a week of utrogestan. I assume I just stop taking the tablets the day I get the Mirena?

I can ask at clinic but suspect they won't discuss it. My GP told me to go through this community clinic to get it fitted but when they called me to make appointment, they told me they only do them if they're needed for contraception so 'you do need it for contraception don't you?' nudge, nudge.

Anyone any experience?

@DanceTheDevilBackIntoHisHole I made this switch around 6 months ago, and my G.P. advised me to stop the utrogestan on the day I had the coil fitted.

I spotted lots over the following 5 months, but that's settled now and I no longer get the massive lows and highs while taking the the progesterone.

Good luck with the fitting 🥰

Had the coil fitted four months ago and I absolutely love it!! No bleeding, no acid reflux, no headaches and moods are more stable. I’ve had two children which helps with fitting. All I felt was a pinch when they opened the cervix. It was fine. Now five years free of more periods and faffing about getting the progesterone tablet right. I take two pumps of gel in the morning.
