Breath of fresh air

Just had a HRT review at the GPs with the new nurse. What a breath of fresh air she was. She gets it. She was also fobbed off with anti depressants and had to do her own research online, then battle for HRT. Only issue was that a good moan put my blood pressure up.

It makes all the difference when you feel you are being heard doesn't it? I had a negative experience with my GP (who is a woman in her late 50s so should know better!!) so I chose to go private to menopause clinic and the difference was astounding.

Oh where do I start. Hysterectomy aged 44 (massive fibroid), menopause symptoms 2 years after that, dreadful anxiety, insomnia, depression, 2 x middle aged female GPs prescribed anti depressants, 2 more years of shit, male GP took bloods, said I was fine and prescribed me folic acid - seriously, WTF? Luckily this was all about the time that celebs like Mariella Frostrup, Kirsty Wark and Davina McCall were doing the rounds talking about menopause and the penny dropped that I was not going mad, I did not have dementia and I was not depressed.

4th GP prescribed patches about 3 years ago and it's like night and day. Nurse had similar experiences and said if it was up to her (it's not) the practice would have a menopause clinic and she'd be running it .

I could have hugged her.
