Evorel 50 weight gain - so fed up with it now!

I started on Evorel 50 patches in June to coincide with my Mirena coil. I'm 48 and had bladder incontinence and brain fog.
Since June I have put on ten kilos in weight!!!! None of my clothes look okay on me, I'm bloated around my middle half and my thighs look like tree trunks. I haven't had a decent night's sleep for weeks and my hair is shedding much faster than usual. The skin on my face feels sore too.
I feel so down about this and want to come off these blasted patches and lose this weight.
Has anyone else gained a large amount of weight on Evorel 50?

I have been on these since I was 39 after total hysterectomy, so nearly 15 years now but have not gained weight on them, are you sure its the patches?

People will say you don’t gain weight on HRT, but I have, despite tracking my calories and doing tons of exercise.

In my case it’s worth it, but it’s bloody annoying.

Did you get the mirena at the same time or did you have it already?

25 patch might be enough for you.

Heatherland77 · 09/11/2024 13:53

I've had a Mirena for fourteen years to stop heavy periods. Could try cutting the patch in half and see if that stabilises my weight.
I'm literally eating tuna salad with no fun bits every day, and poached fish for dinner. And doing ten mile walks every weekend and walking every day and the weight still piles on!

I'd get your thyroid and B12 levels checked.

I have been on evorel 75 and evorel 50 for 3 years and struggle to gain weight. I would be looking at other causes.

I'm on 100mcg patch and mirena/testosterone for nearly two years.

Some initial bloating and weight gain as the progesterone was awful for me, so my usual period breasts were three times the size and my stomach was very bloated. Also I craved sugar which is very odd as I don't usually eat much of it at all as it gives me palpitations.

But I kept increasing oestrogen every 8 weeks and changed to the mirena and then tracked what I ate for 4 weeks and back to normal 5 months after starting on HRT.

I did put half a stone on over the winter but lost it again in 4 weeks in June. And not hard, just 1200cals and exercise.

Testosterone helps me a lot. I get a lot of energy from it. But mainly tracking every single thing I eat is what keeps me in a good place.

Okay, thank you, I'll track eating for a while. I have the Noom app which is good.
I have to say, after not having a patch on for three days, I can go two extra notches down on my belt and my jeans feel better on, so the HRT is causing bloating. It's just whether I can get my body to calm down on it. Will try 25 to start again and then see how my body responds whilst also counting the calories.

I have recently come off HRT and had marina coil removed as I blame these for excessive weight gain. Within 3 months of having coil inserted I put on one stone, it felt like it happened overnight! I started HRT and put on another stone, again it felt like it happened overnight. I eat healthily and lead an active life. Pre coil and HRT I was 8.5 stone and was this weight for circa 30 years. I tried calorie counting etc. But it made no difference to my weight, hence why I had the coil removed and stopped HRT just over a week ago. I already feel the difference with the fit of my clothes. I didn't weigh myself prior to removal as i just couldn't face the scales. I'm hoping the shedding of weight continues.
