Is this ache in uterus normal?

52 and periods still very regular, though have other minor peri symptoms like night sweats and stiffness/achy joints 🙄🙄

But since my last period finished, literally about two days later I started to feel familiar pre-menstrual symptoms like tender breasts and mild cramps, and that's been going on for about three weeks now. It's just constant mild period pain more or less all day and night, and breast are getting really pretty swollen and sore. The cramps seem to extend down the tops of my legs now, into my thighs too.

Have other people experienced this? It just feels like I'm permanently on the leadup to my period!

Nobody? Wondering if I should go to the GP now if this is not a common peri symptom... it's so annoying, just this permanent achy feeling.

Of course you should see a GP if you feel something is different or has changed - but my experience of this phase of life is that I get odd aches and twinges and even sustained crampy pains like you have, at different times of my HRT-induced cycle!

I also suffer from sore sides of breasts for the second part of my cycle, for a cluster of months at a time and then it goes. It was one of the things I went on HRT for and it still comes and goes!

OP, do see your GP, I think it's sensible. But please don't worry.

Yes, I had spells of cramping over a year or so, for the duration of a week here and there, that weren't obviously connected to my cycle in any way. I've read that it's a common symptom of peri that's due to hormonal fluctuations. I'm now in late-peri (last period in July), and haven't experienced any cramping for a good while, so fingers crossed it won't happen again, because it was really annoying!

Oh interesting! I’m suffering similar although my period is two weeks late now. Been fairly regular up to about six months ago then had my cycle reduce to about 22 days.
Now two weeks late going by that length and had cramps and sore boobs since last period.

Yes definitely see a GP.
But also could you be pregnant? Sounds like those symptoms too.

mychilddeservesaneducation · 04/11/2024 12:38

Urm... if there's even the slightest possibility that you could be pregnant, I'd do a test to rule that out before considering anything else.

Haha, not a chance I could be pg!! (Thank god!) Thanks to those who have experienced similar – reassuring.

Kind of wish you could just flick a switch and be through this stage and out the other side – periods serve absolutely no purpose to me now!

Interesting you mention this. Ever since I had my tubes tied when I had my c-section with my little boy 2 years ago I am aware all month of various twinges in my uterus that I never experienced before. I thought it must have been something to do with that but I do however also believe I am peri-menopausal due to other symptoms (mainly massive brain fog) so it’s interesting you say that as that could be the peri too with me 🧐. I’m 46 in a couple of months.
