Does anyone take mirtazapine for sleep? How do you find it?

Thanks.

Are you taking it just for sleep? I had it as an anti depressant and sleep aid. The first week or so I was knocked out at night and felt very lethargic. Tbh that didn't totally ever go away. I never felt fully present on it.
How much is the dose, I was on 30 mg as apparently less sedating at higher levels.
From an anti depressant pov it workef but the side effects of weight gain and being permanently tired outweighed the benefits.
I know other people who have loved it.

I used to take it for sleep. But it left me far to groggy in the morning. Slept all night, but so groggy and struggled to get out of bed. Doctor switched me to something else

Yes for sleep. I'm in surgical menopause but with no HRT allowed. I was on amitriptyline 50mg, but it seems to have stopped working. Not sure whether to increase or switch to mirtazapine.

My DH has been taking it for years. I'd say that if you're going to try it you need to give it a few months. For the first few weeks my DH was like a zombie. Very groggy. He also had the usual side effect of craving carbs and put on weight. However, all these symptoms more or less disappeared after maybe three months. His eating is back under control and he's slimmer than ever. He no longer has any grogginess.
To answer your question about sleep - it most definitely helps him sleep and helps his depression.

Thanks @SallyWD

I'm up at 7am and out by 8am
daily. I work in a school and need to be on the ball. Maybe I will leave until the summer holidays?

When I took it it gave me an uncontrollable appetite and I started gaining weight! It helped with sleep but side effects made me stop talking it.
