So I’m 52 now and my periods are still going strong, regular as clockwork 😭. I use an app to track, so I know that my cycle is unchanged (all 30 days). They aren’t heavy, aren’t light. I am very aware of ovulation - cramps, nausea, headaches - immediately followed by two weeks of aching, swollen boobs. Then a week of doom and gloom moodiness, a couple days of feeling spaced out, then bam - another one 🙄.

I do think I’m still ovulating as I suddenly fancy every man I see 😱. I could really do without having erotic dreams about my boss 🤦‍♀️🙄😱.

gods I wish it would just stop. I’m so bored of the whole fucking thing.

54 and I think they're finally winding down. So fed up.
Drs have said if they don't stop soon they're putting me onto continuous progesterone to force them to stop!

Surely 54 isn't that late though? I thought the average age was 52. I turn 53 tomorrow and had been regular with a few blips (but very heavy in the last few years). Now suddenly no period since July!

Beamur · 30/10/2024 20:58

My Drs say it's the top end of normal but at 55 their preference is to switch hrt to progesterone daily. I'm not there yet and suspect they're close to stopping anyway.

my little sister is 49, hers are all over the place and her Dr has given her HRT. And I’m just ploughing on, same as I ever was 🙄.

bored bored bored. I’ll ceremoniously snip my mooncup into tiny pieces when it finally gets retired.

Hahaha..... 58 here, still going. Getting bored now.

MoonKiss · 30/10/2024 21:02

Budge up ladies. Sick of it too, especially since mine are getting shorter apart AND heavier.

RainBow725 · 30/10/2024 21:04

I hear you. 54 and still going. Gone a bit haywire in the last 12 months or so but no sign of actually stopping. I have Had Enough Angry

Seasidewalker · 31/10/2024 14:02

55 next week... still going strong. I finally seem to have found something that I'm above average at. Great 🙄

BlackStrayCat · 31/10/2024 14:11

Be very careful what you wish for.

You're assuming that those of us still having regular periods are symptom free?!

Scutterbug · 31/10/2024 14:48

My sister and my mum were both 58! I’m 50 and just started having irregular cycles so hoping I’ll be younger.

Sedgwick · 31/10/2024 14:50

My periods kept going until my 56th birthday. I am 57 now and it’s fabulous to be free of them. Hope yours don’t go on as long as mine did.

Speiln · 02/11/2024 00:52

My thoughts exactly. I’m 54 shortly and every month I hope it won’t show up, but to no avail until I finally missed one last time. I thought it was bad enough that it’s been regular until that point, but I am currently on day 20 of latest one with no sign of it coming to an end. This can’t be normal. I’m beyond fed up and wish it would all just bugger off. The GP has said to wait another week to see if it’s still going before bothering them again.

Hoglet70 · 02/11/2024 11:45

Mid 50s too and only ever missed a couple.

Davidfromcorrie · 03/01/2025 22:17

I'm coming up for 54. People blink when I say I still have periods. Last one a few days before Christmas. Ovulated In Tesco today pain and gush of jelly. Can't bear it at my age. .no kids

Wotrewelookinat · 07/01/2025 22:13

Still going at nearly 55,so fed up!

Cynic17 · 07/01/2025 22:16

I was 56, OP, so don't hold your breath. And, yes, it is tedious.

MoanyMcMoanington · 07/01/2025 22:23

I'm 52 in March and no sign of my cycle coming to an end, even down to the ovulation symptoms you describe.
I pray every day my periods stop as I had an ablation two years ago which failed so although I no longer bleed my uterus is still trying to push the blood out and it's absolute agony for days. I'm also suffering from awful pms which I never used to experience. None helped by the fact I also discovered last year that I have endometriosis.
All my friends, even younger ones have gone into menopause, I long for mine to bugger off.

Doubledded123 · 07/01/2025 22:29

I'm 54 this year, stopped last year... 3 in a year then nowt. Thank fuck!
