When to start HRT patches if period irregular

I got my HRT prescription 3 weeks ago, and was told to take on day 1 of my cycle. Currently on day 47 and counting so it's just sitting there. This is the latest my period has ever been (I'm 49) - it started jumping around from the usual 28-30days before this but not this much. My symptoms aren't unbearable, but I'm pretty low and anxious, and zero libido, and getting hot flashes, so I'm keen to get going to see if it helps. Does anyone have any experience of this, and if so when I can start with the patches?

I wear one everyday, so I just started on the day I got them. I can't see what difference it makes. The tablets I take for the first twelve days of the month. And

vagirux as and when I remember

Oh okay, I thought it made a difference because of taking the progesterone for days 15 to 28. If I start today and don’t get my period for another 15 days, then it would be 30 days of no progesterone, and I don’t know if that’s right. I’m new to all of this so thanks for responding!

I would phone your gp

I've just started HRT patches (37 yo in perimenopause) and the guidance sheet with them told me to start using them around 5 days before my next period was due. I don't know the reasoning for this but I put my first patch on on Sunday and we'll see if I miss a period altogether or what happens. I'm wary about the whole thing really but after knowing how hard people fight to get help, I thought I may as well give it a go.

It took conversations with 4 doctors at the practise to get my prescription, having first discussed HRT over a year ago with a 5th. I don't think they know too much about it! But I'll try thanks.

The "balance- menopause support" app is very good. Chocka full of HRT guidance, articles and advice. I found it really useful. Well worth a look and a lot less faff than trying to see a GP!

in case useful to anyone else, I did ask my GP and they said start oestrogen now and progesterone on day 15. Not sure what happens if I now get my period, but am following the advice.
