What do you think are the best book and websites for HRT/Menopause?

Just that really - I'm late to the party.

I'm now 63, and have just started on HRT privately 2-4 years post-menopause. I'm now looking to really understand it to see how long I want to be on it for. Family history of osteoporosis makes it particularly appealing.

I'd steered clear earlier as everyone I knew advised against unless you were really suffering - I had a very tough perimenopause (without knowing that was what it was) but an easy menopause.

Oh - and I'm reading Dr Philippa Kaye's The Menopause Word

What sort of things are you wanting to know?

You say you've just started HRT after your final period at 59 or 61? Is that right?

To be honest if you're paying a consultant for your HRT they are the best ones to ask for whatever you want to know. You usually get 45 mins for the first appt and 30 mins for follow-ups. I have conversations that are really helpful.

Might that work for you?

Yes - my consultant is so very pro that i want to understand why others aren't and why there are statements out there that in your 60s the pros and cons roughly balance....I am building a list of questions to ask her, but really want to understand HRT more broadly.

It may sound silly but until I started reading up more I hadn't thought about hte implications of there being no research on post menopausal women being on HRT longterm....

Might I ask which consultant you are with? DM me if better for you....
