Hi, I hope you can help...

With the following history, is there any reason you can see why I should keep getting recurrent sore throats/chills/exhaustion which often resolve after a couple of days....

-I have Gingivitis, which is under control, but always there, means I am immunocompromised apparently
-had Strep B when DD was born (17 years ago) - surely must have gone by now!
-Am 56 and on Estrogel and Ultrogestan HRT.
-am currently being investigated for uterine cancer due to bleeding whilst on HRT

HR are complaining that I have taken of too many sick days this year, and I wondered if any of you had any ideas why I keep getting these flu like symptoms?

I would assume a viral response. Have you recently had any blood tests to check for underlying health?

How regularly are you getting these symptoms, how bad, does pain relief sort it?

The trouble is one cold can knock you back, making it more likely you'll get another.

I’ve had my 50 health check blood tests and they were all fine, but no test to see if I had any infections. I get swollen tonsils, extreme exhaustion and horrible chills, but a day in bed usually does the trick, and I feel well enough to wfh on day two. Thus it looks a bit fishy to HR, but feels very real for me. I’m just wondering if I have something underlying that may be causing it. * If I have, I’ll speak to the doctor and see if I can get a note or something.
*I saw something on google called ‘progesterone flu’ which made me think it might be hormonal but not much online about that.

I wondered about what people refer to as 'period flu'. I sometimes get a sore throat, ear ache and general aches and pains right before my period which then resolve overnight. Each time it happens I'm convinced it's the start of a bad cold but it never turns into anything and instead disappears when my period arrives. Last time it happened I searched online and read about 'period flu' and found other people seemed to experience something similar. Sorry not sure how helpful that is and yours sounds much worse than mine.

What are you doing to strengthen your immune system: supplements/movement/exercise?

I'm 48 and in peri and on HRT. If I have a busy week and stop taking my vitamins I immediately feel tired. Since I started properly committing to my health and exercising 4 times a week I can hand on heart say I'm never sick. I think I've had 1 cold in ten years.

Highly recommend this approach for helping with any symptoms of illness.
