Combined progesterone and oestrogen patch

I’ve finally taken the plunge and asked for hrt. I’m 49 next week and had a few symptoms plus periods jumping around so it’s time. I did some research and asked for the oestrogen patch and progesterone pessary but the gp pushing the combined patch. Does anyone have any opinions on the benefits and negatives of either? Real world opinions are useful I find in this. Thanks so much!

I am currently in the opposite situation- my specialist is pushing the oestrogen patch and utrogestan but I am 3 weeks in and I’m hating taking the utrogestan, it’s giving me dreadful stomach issues (acid etc). I’ve tried it vaginally before (I’ve been on and off HRT for a while now for various reasons) and didn’t like that either. I’m asking for the combined patches and waiting to have a response. I’m curious to read the replies you get.

I found the combined patches made me feel terrible - really anxious and low. I was fine just on the oestrogen patches, symptoms only appeared when it was time to use the combined ones. Thought I was going crazy till my other half pointed out it might be the meds. Switched to Utrogestan plus oestrogen patches and no issues. We’re all different - you might have to experiment a bit to see what works for you.

Thanks both, and yes of course, I’m braced for it to maybe not work and have to tweak. Interested to see if there are other responses too

I've recently started on the combined patch (Femseven Conti).

It's mostly been fine for me with no awful side-effects so far.
