Vagina opening feels like it’s going to tear during sex

As in the heading, it’s always been a bit of a thing for me where it feels very tight and small on entry but then after some time having sex it’s fine and enjoyable. Since menopause (I’m 52) it’s really bad. Even using a lubricant it feels like it’s goi g to tear just at the opening. Does anyone else experience this and have any ideas of what to do? I can’t have HRT due to breast cancer in family.

Are you using vagifem or similar topical oestrogen - sounds like it could be helpful for you. It’s such a small dose that doctors may be happy despite cancer risks of higher dose hey - please go and ask. Whole year’s dose is same as two days of normal hrt.

No I’m not thank you so much for that recommendation I will definitely ask.

Definitley topical oestrogen.

You can use vaginal estrogen.

But also take some specialist advice on 'no hrt'. Many women and GPs misunderstand this.

It's a higher risk if you have a mum AND your sister with breast cancer. One parent doesn't count.

Other relatives going back a long way don't count.

And according to specialists, if you do have a very strong family history, your GP should suggest genetic testing.
