Weakness in wrists and thumbs

I've recently noticed that my wrists feel a bit weak when I do something like lift a jug of water. My thumb joints also weirdly don't seem as strong as they were and a couple of times I've bent them back wrestling a very tight pillowcase onto a pillow (very painful..I don't recommend). I'm 51 and have been on HRT for a few months. Anyone else experienced that sort of thing? I've never had joint problems and always been quite sturdy.

I’m also 51, and have the same issue. It started with my right wrist after I’d done some decorating, but it just didn’t go away. I’ve had steroid injections at the base of my thumb, but that didn’t help at all. I recently had an ultrasound scan, which identified a 2.5cm cyst and am waiting for an MRI to assess it further. Initially I’d assumed that I’d just injured my right wrist, but over recent months, my left wrist/hand has started hurting in the same way. Both hands feel weak, and are particularly sore when I bend the wrist or use the thumbs. I’ve been on HRT for just over a year. I’ve got a review appointment with my GP this week, and she’s usually very helpful, so I’m going to discuss this with her then.
