Menopausal acne/dry skin help needed!

I’m in proper meno now and my skin (on face) is awful. It has been dry for ages, I was getting red/dry patches which have slightly improved but now I’m getting spots as well. I’ve just had one massive zit on my chin which was truly foul and made me really self-conscious. I had spots when I was a teen/early 20s but a course of tetracycline get rid and I only sometimes had one leading up to period. Now I have a small collection!
I’d like to know what skincare to use from annyonr else on here who is spotty at 59-odd and whether I should try hrt again. My digestive system isn’t great and I have some other chronic health issues so I’d want to speak to a meno specialist not a dismissive GP.

I found HRT, cutting out sugar key, and also reducing carbs generally - subbing out milk for soya (unsweetened) really helped too. I also suffered cystic acne as a teen and it was starting to maker a menopausal return.

Definitely try HRT again.

I use Egyptian Magic for my skin twice a day, it works brilliantly. I don't use soap or cleansers on my face, just a hot facecloth on my skin when I shower. Give your face and neck a good firm massage with the cloth first. Egyptian Magic is like a lovely balm, and it's also an excellent winter moisturiser.

Salycylic acid for face. The ordinary do a version but the best by far is paulas choice (pricey but lasts months). Then at night follow with a glycolic acid and a natural oil. My favourite is rose but marula also works well. Am also peri so sometimes I add a think layer of vaseline on top but this doesn't work for everyone of course.

Then as pp said drastically reduce sugar. Boring but does help a lot.

I forgot to add that I won't eat or drink anything with sweeteners in, because they can affect your gut which in turn affects your skin. I don't drink cow's milk, I use oat milk.

Thanks! I don’t really have sugar - only a bit of maple syrup in homemade biscuits/cooking so that’s not an issue for me - and def no sweeteners. My diet is very healthy cos I have acid reflux. Also don’t drink cow’s milk and have minimal cheese as well.
I will look up Egyptian Magic and the salicylic acid - am familiar with this cos my DS has cystic acne - spots are a nice family trait from both sides! Lucky kids!!
