Do you get a choice of patch brands?

I'm thinking of going to the GP soon regarding starting HRT. I've not had a period for 12 months now, so hoping I will be offered a continuous type from the start, although I know they might prefer I try a cyclical one at first. I think I would prefer a patch for the oestrogen part rather than gel.

But there are so many different brands and types. I'm sure the GP will offer the cheapest one first. But are some better than others and should I ask to try a particular one? One of my issues is over the top sweating - but I don't think it's specifically menopause related, though the hot flashes perhaps exacerbate it. So adhesion of the patch could be an issue depending on whether that continues or not.

Any anecdotal difference in how well the different brands work, or which is easiest to get used to? Or does it really not matter which one start with?

I get whichever one the third or fourth pharmacy I visit has got in stock. I didn't realise you could choose and it would probably mean I'd have to go even further to get them (the online dispenses I asked didn't stock the dose)

thanks, it sounds like availability might be the limiting factor anyway, so I might be lucky to get any!
