Crazy dreams and heavy sleeping.

I've been in peri for around 18 months now, and started HRT (Elleste 2mg) about 1 year ago. I'm also on a low dosage of antidepressants, (not depressed just low mood/anxious since starting peri).

My periods were still fairly regular until a few months ago when I started randomly bleeding 2 weeks into my cycle for 9 days (normally lasts 4-5), then going 2 weeks until bleeding again, and then 6 weeks. However, there's no particular pattern.

When peri started I noticed in the week or so before my period I'd get crazy dreams/nightmares and sleep really heavily (usually through my alarm). I could deal with this as it only lasted a week and stopped when I came on.

But since my periods have gone haywire I'm having this every night! Some nights it's not so bad, (the other night I had a very long vivid dream where I was the 7th friend in Friends, it was quite fun. 😂). But most nights it's sometimes terrifying, or panic-inducing. I couldn't tell you what the dreams are about a few minutes after I wake up, but in those first few minutes I'm still stuck in the thrall of the dream, (think aliens or apocalypses).

Coupled with sleeping so heavily my limbs feel like lead when I wake up and I spend the morning feeling like I'm coming down from a psychotic episode!

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you deal with it?

Yes I have this too! Not sure how to deal with it, apart from giving myself a slower start to the morning when I can (not always possible). Like you, it's worst just before my period.
