Estradiol- has using it changed your periods?

I’m on Evorel Sequi patches and got prescribed vaginal estradiol 7 weeks ago to see if it’d help with urinary urgency etc

It’s worked but my periods have gone weird since starting it. My first after starting it was nearly 2.5 weeks late and light compared to normal, the next one is 5 days late and similar

Up until this, they’ve been regular as clockwork and annoyingly heavy. Has anyone had anything similar?

Why are you on hrt if you are still having regular periods? Sorry if that's uninformed in some way!

It hasn't made any difference to mine at all.

Edited

Because I’m in perimenopause. Your periods don’t have to have stopped to be in peri

Vaginal estrogen shouldn't affect your periods in any way.

I think you need to look at this another way.

Sequi HRT gives a bleed. Usually it's regular and starts a few days after the last dose of progestogen (in a patch or tablet.)

So at the end of every 4th week/start of the 5th, you should get a withdrawal bleed.

This is not a normal period. It's induced by the HRT.
HRT overrides your own cycles.

In some women, the withdrawal bleed doesn't happen regularly.

Or it can be light (this depends on how much the hrt is thickening the womb lining.)

In some women in peri, their own periods can occasionally break through the HRT 4-week cycle.

Soooo...one of the above is probably the reason.

I'd not worry. It will settle down again.

How long have you been on HRT?

Thanks! I’ve been on HRT for approx 16 months; my cycle has been slightly out of whack as my period always appeared around the last 1 or 2 of my progesterone patch, but that lined up with my normal cycle before starting hrt

It’s been like clockwork since starting hrt, until taking the estradiol. Its really bloody annoying as the new cycle has put me on my period right in the middle of a weeks holiday!
