Late menopause?

Hi all. Looking for advice/others’ experiences. I am 55, have been on 2 pumps Oestrogel and Mirena coil since 2022. Presumed I’d stopped ovulating - but no periods due to Mirena. I get monthly (approximately) pains in the left ovary region. Always the left. Have had external and internal scans to rule out anything sinister. All ok. I also get a jelly like discharge again approximately once a month like I used to - ovulation? Is this possible? Also get premenopausal symptoms - headaches, nausea, swollen breasts. Anyone else experienced this? Can you still ovulate at 55? Sorry for the essay!

I had the coil out after 4.5 months to a 2 week period.

Now I’m experiencing period cramps with blood streaks in

I didn't finally go through the menopause until I had just turned 57 (I'm just about to turn 58 now). I was perimenopausal for I think around a decade before that with terrible heavy, flooding periods.

So I would guess that yes, it may be just possible to still ovulate at 55 occasionally. Rare though. Rare enough for contraception to generally not be considered necessary.

I’ve just turned 57 and still have periods - sometimes with flooding and cramps. Is there an age that this should become a concern?

I didn't start HRT until 54 and three quarters and my periods were still regular (ish 24- 35 days in the previous 5 months) at that point. I was getting alternating ovulation pains on both sides monthly alongside discharge so I'm pretty sure i was still ovulating. I'd been peri for at least 8 years I reckon.

I'd always wanted to be above average at something😁
