I know it's been hot recently but, honestly, needing to shower 3 X daily, using soap and deodorant and STILL stink of BO. ( Obviously excarcabated by hot sweats as been in peri around 7 years). It's embarrassing ((especially as I'm large chested and sweat a lot there too) I'm having to avoid certain colour tops in case of sweat stains! Is it a common thing?

Have you tried the dove/sure max? The cream one you apply at night, about a fiver
That and dettol soap for my armpits works for me

bryceQ · 13/08/2024 12:11

Carpe deodorant is absolutely amazing. Make sure to put on in the evening on clean skin then again in the morning. I really can't rate it enough. They also do various products to help with sweaty areas.

I don't work for Carpe!

Mitcham works for me and my sweaty son .

HoHoHoliday · 13/08/2024 15:13

It might sound counterintuitive, but I stopped wearing deodorant and my body odour cleared up. I was sweating a lot from menopause too, so I was using deodorant underarm, upper thighs, all of the crevasses where the sweat seeped into my clothes. But it was just blocking my body and made the odour worse.
Since I stopped using anything, the sweat comes out of the body - as it should - and the odour is not there. I also sit in the sauna a few times a week at my gym to sweat the toxins out of my body.
If I'm in the office or similar, I take a flannel out with me and have a quick flannel wash under arms/in crevasses to prevent any sweat sticking on the skin.

Iseeall · 13/08/2024 15:16

You need wright's coal tar soap. Use that in the shower rather than shower gel.

Eviebeans · 13/08/2024 15:24

I use mitcham for men - always used to use dove deodorant

mathanxiety · 13/08/2024 15:25

Change your bra every day.

Buy cotton or linen or other natural material clothing. If you're wearing clothes you've been wearing and washing for a long time, dump it.

Drink more water. Eat more veg. Cut way back on sugar including alcohol.

Dove/Sure cream deodorants are the best I have ever used! Never once been let down in the 5 years or so iv used them!

Scissorsisters · 13/08/2024 15:54

Start using proper soap (not Dove bars) and a flannel, and give everything a good scrub and rinse.

Try Mitchum antiperspirants. Start with the regular green ones and move on to the strong ones if necessary.

Scissorsisters · 13/08/2024 15:56

Oh, and wear natural fibres, absolutely no polyester.

Are you sure you don't smell? I worked with someone once who told people they didn't use deodorant but had a really strong BO smell in the summer.

HoHoHoliday · 13/08/2024 17:19

@SwedishEdith Ha! Yes I'm absolutely sure. I have nearest and dearest in my life who would tell me with brutal honesty - and did so in my early days of smelly menopause!

Dolphinnoises · 13/08/2024 17:24

If it helps, I had this in perimenopause and while I had to part with some really nice clothes because the weird not-quite BO but just as bad smell wouldn’t wash out, it didn’t last. I have never been very sweaty so was unprepared for it but wore cotton, washed everything after one wear, used a stronger deodorant and bought deodorant wipes for emergencies…

Trust deodorant will work.

https://trustproducts.co.uk/products/trust-long-lasting-aluminum-free-extremely-effective-deodorant-for-underarm-odour-protection

To solve this problem, I started washing my underarms at bedtime (as well as morning shower), changing my tops every day, and using trust at night every few days (in addition to morning antiperspirant).

Every so often, if my tops have become smelly anyway, I wash them at 60 with biological liquid. But this barely happens with the above regime.

TRUST aluminum-free, heavy duty deodorant for underarm smell

Based on years of research, a formula was developed which dealt directly with the cause of our body odour - the bacteria itself - rather than masking the smell as with ordinary deodorants. Trust reduces the effect of bacteria and thus eliminates the od...

Thanks all. Currently wash with bar of soap anyway ( incognito) to keep any bugs biting me - hopefully

Have started wearing cotton and linen more. I already wash all my clothes after one wear. I've been using sanex solid deodorant so will look at the alternative ones which have been suggested.

I never used to sweat but menopause was definitely changed that. I now shower every morning and either again at night or a flannel wash. I use this deodorant every few days and wild deodorant daily. I keep an aerosol deodorant in my bag at all times to freshen up, especially under my boobs 🫣.

I stink!!!
