Black cohosh side effects?

My gynaecologist has prescribed this against peri symptoms. A new dr took over the practice in June and switched me to a higher dose. The day following the first new dose was the first day in years I haven't woken with muscle/joint pain, and all the pain when getting up after sitting in the evening has also gone.

However, I'm now getting a period every 13 days, a proper clotty, crampy 6 day period. Is this a side effect that you have o deal with? Will it go away after 6 months like the initial bleeding on the mini pill? Or do I need to go back to the doctor?

Just asking as I've never heard of Black Cohosh being prescribed.
It can be bought as a herb, but it's not on prescription.
Long term use is linked to liver disease.

No I'm not. It's the first option as I'm too young for hrt and you can only have that for 10 years.
urgh, I'm also on other meds which are long term bad for the liver....

Do you ever come back to the UK?
Could you see a dr here ( privately) and get 6 months HRT?
Then you could have an annual review?

In the UK there is no age limit (young or old) on HRT. It's diagnosed on symptoms. There is also no time limit on it.

I rarely come back, certainly not often enough for a yearly review.
