I hate this feeling so much plus I feel sluggish all day and have started to skip days which is not good. I genuinely feel like I've had a skinful - uncoordinated, can't do simple tasks, dizzy etc

Added complication is I'm an alcoholic 10 years sober so this is particularly unnnerving / unwelcome / triggering.

Are there alternatives that aren't a coil?

Are you taking it at night on an empty stomach at least 2 hours after food? You can use it vaginally instead.

Edited to add there are alternatives like duphaston, that's what I'm on.

When do you take it? I take mine just as I’m going to bed. No side effects at all. Any of the side effects you’ve mentioned may happen while I’m asleep but not aware of them!

FusionChefGeoff · 10/08/2024 00:12

I'm a terrible snacker Blush so there's rarely an opportunity in the evening that fits the criteria.

I've found if I take it actually at bedtime, I am an actual Zombie in the morning so taking it a bit before bed hopefully means it's worn off more by the alarm.

Yes I read vaginally is good if you have side effects even if taking at night as it bypasses the liver and doesn’t hang around in your system. I tried it for a while as read it was better absorbed straight to the uterus. Just hoik it up there and it melts. I didn’t carry on with it as didn’t notice any difference and a bit of a PITA if you want to get jiggy!

FusionChefGeoff · 10/08/2024 00:13

Veginally is an idea - do I just pop the tablets up
The vagina presumably a finger length high up?

Ha ha we both wfh so all jiggy tends to be lunch break timing - far too knackered at night!

Ok cool will try vaginally for the rest of this cycle and see how it feels.

Not everyone tolerates it well. Hrt isn’t a one and done kind of prescription. It might need a bit of tweaking. Can you go back to your gp?

BossMadam · 10/08/2024 00:18

Yes just push it up as far as you can get it. Don’t get up afterwards so do as just going to sleep. Keep some wipes by the bed so you don’t end up
wiping your eyes in the morning with a fusty finger!

If you using it vaginally you just take 1 x 100mg for 12 days. Orally it's 2 xs 100mg for 12 days.

The side effects are worse if you don't take it on an empty stomach. I'm not a fan either. Hope vaginally works out for you.
