Hi all,

I'm 49 in a couple of months. Over the years I've suffered with bad sleep, anxiety, low moods. It's been horrible. Especially the last few years. I've been on HRT which definitely helped, it wasn't perfect but it got rid of the low moods and crying.

But then strangely about 3/4 months ago I started feeling like my old self. Maybe even better than I used to. I have lots more energy, I'm happy, positive and no anxiety. I feel great! What's changed is my periods have completely stopped...

Before I'd have lighter periods with no consistency.

I'm still taking my HRT but I'm finding I only need 1 pump of estrogel most days before bed and that's enough.

Is this how it feels when you're all done with perimenopause?! I hope so! Because this is the best I've felt for a long time!!! Plus I'm losing the belly fat I had, but that could be because I'm exercising more.

You need no periods for 12 months , glad you're feeling better!

That’s great, pleased for you! I’m 2.5 years without a period . I didn’t have those issues so didn’t suddenly get happier. I’m not in hrt but I feel good. Belly fat reduction will no doubt be your exercise as lots of women find it accumulating after menopause when oestrogen drops. However if your low mood was hormone related it could well be a great time for you! Long may it continue!

Thanks, yep I think it's the exercise. Lots of walking and yoga. Before I'd be too tired to do it 😛

My main issue was the low mood and the ability to not find any joy in life. That's all returned now! Yay! I sincerely hope this stays as it's so nice to feel good again and look forward to things.

I'm the same age and haven't had a period for 6 months. I suddenly feel better too,the stress has reduced and I just feel myself again.

Isn't it just your HRT doing its stuff?

I don't think it's possible to judge because as long as you take HRT you may feel much better even on a low dose.

I'd say be open-minded because sometimes as your estrogen falls over the coming years you may find you need to up the gel to 2 or even 3 pumps.

The fact you're not having a monthly withdrawal bleed on HRT suggests the dose is very low.
Presumably you're using a sequential sort - 12 days of Utrogestan a month?- where you'd normally have a withdrawal bleed?

Good luck with it all.

I take ultrogestan every night, my gynaecologist told me to do that and it's worked brilliantly.

@Cherryblossom200 taking utrog Dailey is for the regime for post menopausal women and you’re not meant to bleed on it x

Cherryblossom200 · 09/08/2024 14:28

I know, but the doctor and my gynae said for me to take it daily before bed to help with certain problems I was having and it's worked really well. So I'm sticking with this.

Isn’t there phases. From an article in newsfeed of stages/phases today I’m late stage peri. No idea how was this not known to hospital gynae in late 23 when treating ‘erratic’ periods of a 42 year old. 🤷🏻‍♀️ l think it all started late 30’s if not sooner.
