Utrogestan rectally

I was trialling Utrogestan 100mcg 25 day regime (oral) and although the side effects (migraine, nausea etc plus loose bowels but she didn't think was related) have all but disappeared, I've been getting irregular spotting.

My gynaecologist has said it would be best to move back to 12 day 200mcg as it's possible I'm still perimenopausal.

She said I could try rectally (I'd prefer not to go vaginal route as I'm already using Vagifem 4x a week plus vaginal moisturiser daily and it's a faff).

What exactly is the best way to do this, how far does it need to go etc and are there any likely side effects?

Also on Oestrogel 2.5 pumps and Levothyroxine for thyroid.

The best thing is to ask the dr who suggested it.

Did she say why? We'd it because of the spotting?

I had understood that the 25 day/3 day break at 100mcg was a perfectly acceptable option for peri? I'm struggling a bit with the 200mcg option currently, I do better on 100 and I think I seem to do better taking progesterone for more of the month as well.

I'm due a review with my private prescriber in the next few weeks and I'm going to ask about this option. I'll update when I've had the conversation.

Thanks yes she said irregular spotting could be the lining thickening and it shouldn't be happening. Also suggests I'm still perimenopausal so I should stay on 12 day cycle for longer.

That said my understanding was that it's best to move to continuous after a year on cyclical regardless as it reduces other risks but forgot to ask about that. Maybe you could ask about the pros and cons for your needs.

I do really well on 25 days so it's so annoying!
