Everol Sequi and irregular bleeds

I’ve been on Everol Sequi for 2 years and my periods (breakthrough bleed) is usually when I start a new pack. At the beginning of the year I had a few bleeds that were earlier than this so checked with the doctor and he sent me for an internal scan just to make sure everything was ok and results were normal so all good. My period then returned to being at the end of the pack/beginning of new pack.

However, last month my period was a week earlier than usual and this month it has just turned up in the middle of the pack. I’ve no idea what’s going on! Has anyone experienced this? I’m going to message my doctor tomorrow (getting an appointment is a nightmare!) but last time he didn’t really give me any answers to why this happened as as my scan was normal I didn’t take it any further.

I’d like to add that I suffer from health anxiety and I’m trying not to google or think of worst case scenarios, I’m just looking for reassurance! Thanks

It doesn't sound too serious.

How old are you? Had your periods stopped when you started HRT?

Don't take this the wrong way, but just in case you are talking to your dr, the bleeds are called withdrawal bleeds. They are not periods.
'Breakthrough' bleeds are ones that come in between withdrawal bleeds and are irregular.

The usual timing of the withdrawal bleed is after the last progestin in the patch/tablet. This coincides with starting the new cycle of estrogen-only for half the month.

Sometimes the bleed comes earlier for no serious reason (just less progestin being absorbed or higher levels of your own estrogen if you're still in peri.)
Sometimes your own natural cycle can override HRT if you're in peri.

I don't think there is much else your GP could do or say other than reassure you. It's only 6 months since you had a scan and that was all fine.

I'd see how you go for a few cycles as it may all settle down again into the normal pattern.

I'm on Sequi too. Just looked at the instructions and it says the withdrawal bleed will occur in week 4 (ie final week of patch box) when using one of the patches that includes progesterone. For me the withdrawal bleed happens end of week 3 to end of week 4. When I started it the GP said I'd have a withdrawal bleed each month "at some point" so maybe it varies from person to person anyway according to variations in hormone levels.

Reading the leaflet it feels as if the gist is that you should expect a regular withdrawal bleed each month and that it's only irregular (ie additional bleeding to the withdrawal bleed) you need to worry about.

Thanks, yes sorry I meant withdrawal bleeds not breakthrough!

I’m definitely Peri and was still having periods before going on HRT. I’m 48 so I did wonder if maybe my hormones were impacting on the regularity of my bleeds on HRT. I’ll keep an eye over the next few months and hopefully it will settle back down to week 4 again.
