Periods (and PMS) on continuous HRT?

I'm on Oestrogel and daily progesterone (Duphaston) for the past three months (patches which were not a success- constant pms symptoms- for 8 months previously).

My first two months on Oestrogel were fab: no breast pain and no bloating nor mood swings though did have bleeding, all good. This month I've been having severe pms symptoms! I'm waking up from breast pain, I'm crying all day.have period pains but no period. It seems bottle #3 of the oestrogel is a dud.

I really hate going to see my gp so trying to decide whether to stick it out and hope next Month is better or see her and see what she says. Ì really thought Oestrogel (3 squirts) was the answer.

Any advice or experience of same?

What were you using before? Have you always been on combined continuous types?

I'm guessing you are in Ireland as Duphaston is not licensed in the UK.
It's only available in the tablet Femoston (as dydrogesterone.)

It's very similar to micronised progesterone which a lot of women find gives them the symptoms you describe.

Are you post menopause?
Daily progestin is for women aged 54+ or 12 months with no natural periods.

The gel will have been through strict quality control. It's more likely that you're not getting on with the progesterone.

Have you discussed using a sequential type with progesterone 12 days a month rather than daily?

I'm not in menopause (but I am in Ireland 😁) my periods were fairly regular before starting hrt last year. I was on a 75mg patch and two weeks on/two weeks off progesterone but switched to continuous progesterone several months ago (maybe 6).

I'm 52. No hot flushes at all but aching joints, horrible PMS for at least 10 though probably 15 years. I had 2 months free of those PMS symptoms which coincided with my first 2 months on the gel. That was My longest time pain/discomfort free in so long.
