GP sent me for an ultrasound (at my request) for fibroids. I have been having ridiculously heavy periods while on HRT - which I’ve now stopped because I can’t cope with the periods every two weeks. I haven’t had a period for about a month now. GP said there were no symptoms of fibroids (lumps or bumps in my tummy) other than heavy periods.
I’ve been for the scan today and the radiographer was friendly and chatty but as the scan went on she was quieter. The other nurse in the room was the same, but she didn’t take her eyes off the screen. Then she asked if I was expecting an internal scan (I wasn’t) and said she needed to have a thorough look around. As I got ready for the internal in a changing room I could hear them quietly talking (like you’d talk if you didn’t want anyone to hear)
Had the internal scan which seemed to take a long time. At the end I asked if everything was ok and she said she couldn’t give me any results, it would have to be the dr. I’d have thought she might have said she couldn’t see anything/could see something.
Can anyone reassure me this is normal procedure? I went in thinking it may be fibroids and come out thinking I have something more serious and she didn’t want to say.
