Peri symptoms?

Hi,

Has anyone experienced a change of symptoms towards week 3 to start date of their period?

Over last few months my periods have gone from regular 28 days to 21-28 days and some months heavier and painful and others my usual flow with little pain?

I also now get palpitations around week 3 which cause anxiety which I'm guessing is hormonal? I do not get it during periods or just after. Gp not worried.

Anyone experienced similar when possible peri menopause?

For reference I'm 40 and have had children, have another GP appointment booked to discuss.

Thank you

As I can't edit.

Other symptoms include poor memory at times "brain fog", quick temper (unusual for me), heat intolerance.

Yes mine too, 28 days to 21 and think it indicates start of peri.
Heat (and peopleWink) intolerance too.
Just about to start hrt.

Yes, mine are sometimes 3 weeks apart.

I'd been getting heart palpitations too. I'm going to see if they occur at a certain point in my cycle . I was blaming my fizzy drink consumption.

Thisismyhappyface · 23/07/2024 07:23

Yes! This is exactly how mine went last year. Also had palpitations and joint pain. Have just done 3 months trial of HRT and feel like a new woman! Am also 40.

Yes, mine became closer together and heavier.
When I had palpatations I put it down to peri, but it was actually low ferritin, so it’s worth asking for it to be checked. Also worth getting thyroid and B12 checked at this stage too.

Was just thinking I have started my period and literally only had one 3 weeks ago and seems heavier.
I am 48.

Thanks for your experiences, I honestly feel like a different person at the moment. Dread from week 2 onwards as I know the other two weeks will make me feel horrible.

My GP did bloods first time all within normal range.

How have people found HRT? I don't want to go on medication but I can't keep going on like this. Thanks again

I resisted HRT but gave in eventually, and I wish I’d gone on it earlier. I also wish I’d had a Mirena coil earlier, instead of going through heavy periods/flooding which made me anaemic.
And you’ve got a lot more symptoms to come, than what you’ve got now!

@Thisismyhappyface
Glad to hear hrt is working for you. Have just picked up first prescription. Are you on gel? Any side effects?

Thisismyhappyface · 23/07/2024 11:13

@westernlights I'm on everol Sequi patches, but considering a move to a mirena and gel to allow me to increase oestrogen as needed. No side effects at all so far other than a few pounds weight gain, although that has conceded with a holiday 😂
Have more energy and my sex drive has resurfaced- hurrah!

westernlights · 23/07/2024 11:30

@Thisismyhappyface
Oh sounds positive!
I'm nervous to start, plus waiting for next period which is anyone's guess.

I was worried about weight gain side effects, hopefully yours is just cocktail related.Wink

Mine are suddenly all over the place sometimes 4 weekly, sometimes 3, sometimes 6.
Hit flashes awful.
Pain and nauseou ore period and my whole body seems to swell up slightly. I've felt so rough today I've had to come home from work.
Got an appointment for HRT but not til August 16th-which was the earliest one.
