Brain fog help please!

Good morning all.

Please help! I'm 46, definitely peri - I've had lots of symptoms for a few years, have just about managed them. More recently, I have had the odd warm feeling too so it's ramping up. Also weirdly detest the sound of my own voice. It really pisses me off.

However, the brain fog has recently become awful. I'm forgetting things mid convo, especially in important professionals conversations. I can't rely on myself anymore and I'm getting really frustrated and embarrassed with it.

I have an appointment with my GP and I've been told that I'll need a referral for HRT due to an increased breast cancer risk. So I am going to get that going. Luckily I have private health cover so hopefully I won't have to wait too long.

Until then what can I do? Any supplements or coping mechanisms that you all can share (hopefully you'll remember!) would be much appreciated. I'm already strict on sleep, have a healthy BMI, eat ok, do Pilates and try and pace myself where possible.

Short-term problems and difficulty in concentration are common during menopause. Limit alcohol and caffeine and incorporate nuts and avocados into your diet.

I'm 44 and take B6 for energy, zinc for focus during times of stress, magnesium glycinate for anxiety, evening primrose oil for rage. I also try and eat high protein. These combined do help.

I also have developed tonnes of systems so I don't forget anything- everything is written down.

Its interesting what you say about meetings - I now prep the crap out of meetings so that I lead as much as possible and I also feel like I have a structure.

HRT will probably help, it started for me around 40 so have been preparing for a while and I can't take HRT for other reasons.
