Cysts in perimenopause

Hello, been told today I need an ultrasound to check for ovarian cysts. I'm perimenopausal.
Is it common to get cysts during peri? Thanks

I have one and am peri but not sure how common they are at this time , don't know anyone else with one

Well it depends what your symptoms are and why you went to see your GP.

Checking for ovarian cysts isn't routine.

Why has it been suggested?

I think it’s common. I had an internal ultrasound this time last year as well as blood tests. I have two visible cysts and a fibroid.
I have since been checked twice, they have not grown in size and because they aren’t causing any issues the consultant is happy to leave them be.
I panicked the first time I went but the nurse was so reassuring and said think of it as having a full MOT. Which I did.
I will be checked again in six months.
I have no worries about it.
Good luck and try not to worry, it’s always better to be checked and keep an eye on your health.

Yes, but OP doesn't say why she has been referred.
Usually it's for bleeding, abdominal pain, or anything that's 'odd'.

I'm in peri and had fibroids removed ( 7cm, 5cm, few small ones). The best decision ever, my prominent tummy got deflated after the operation and I've lost the constant urge to pee.

I've just had an ultrasound and have cysts and a fibroid, GP sending me for a blood test to check all is ok, but didn't seem too worried.

I'm perimenopausal also.
