HRT and Noriday

Hi all I’ve just been prescribed HRT. I’m 50 and been on Noriday progesterone contraceptive for years. Had a break in 2021 and still had periods (very heavy) so went back on. I’ve been feeling rubbish for a couple of years menopausal symptoms according to the young male
doctor I saw. Anyway…. He has prescribed me Evorel Conti patch and to continue with my daily contraception. He told me to read the leaflet properly for any questions I had. The leaflet says it should be taken once periods have stopped for 18 months. I do not know if mine have. It also says to use a non hormone contraceptive as it’s a combi patch with oestrogen and progesterone. I called the doctors to double check and he said it’s fine….. if it’s fine why does the leadlet say to use a non hormone contraception. I don’t want to be taking too much progesterone. Is anyone else talking the combi patch and progesterone contraception? Is this ok?

Some types of progesterone contraception POP can double up as the progestin needed in HRT but it does depend on the dose and type. For example, some women use (off licence) 3 x the POP dose to double as HRT and contraception.

The contraceptive. I had read that page you suggested before and im Reading it as an alternative to the everol conti is to use the below suggestions of the oestrogen only HRT with 3 x the POP pills per day . Maybe the combi patch with 1 pill per day is ok then. It’s so bamboozling !!

Without looking it up, I don't know what the progestins are in Noriday and the patch.

Ideally you shouldn't be using two different types.
