Do you still get PMT on HRT?

I started HRT last year in December so have now been on it for about 7 months. Before that, my periods were totally regular apart from 3 months earlier in 2023 when they stopped but they came back completely regularly after that.

I have actually been looking forward to menopause. I've always had horrendous periods and had an endometrial ablation in 2018. I also always had horrific PMT with a lot of odd physical symptoms (I get skin rashes etc.).

I started HRT and it has finally helped with my sleep a bit I think and I'm pleased it's protecting my bones etc. . The other weird side effect for me is that I have not caught one virus since I've been on it. I had been very ill before starting HRT to the point where I was picking up illnesses regularly. But what it has also done is bring back my PMT with a vengeance. I can tell what part of my cycle I'm in because the week before my period, I start feeling really weepy and my sleep gets messed up again (which it usually would at that time of the month). My PMT was definitely getting less frequent before I started HRT (I imagine because my hormones were disappearing).

Does anyone else get this? I'm wondering whether I should do something in that week before to change what I take.

Yes I sound similar to you and I have also noticed my PMT gets worse. I also now get ‘the rage’ which I didn’t much before (which my children can testify!)

Yes I have. But not so much mood swings as the same awful cramps and exhaustion etc.

I am on 100mcg patch and Mirena. In fact the cramps were so bad one month I was curled up on the floor.

About to have a private laparoscopy as gynae thinks it might be endo. Apparently I'm one of the small number of women who still get period pains on the mirena. I can also sense when I've ovulated.

I get the occasional light period pain, and crushing exhaustion.

I went on HRT partly because of raging PMT and it worked so thing a couple of months. That was about 7 years ago and I’m still on it now but I haven’t had a period for about 7 months.
