In peri and about to start HRT, what are the side effects?

Has anyone had a bad reaction to HRT? Can it cause side effects worse than peri?

Sore breasts, evening primrose oil or starflower oil sorted it. Progesterone didn't agree with me at all, but it's more like it cancels out my oestrogen too much rather than being bad itself, so it makes my symptoms worse.

I tried it, it made me fatter, came off it. Now thinner again and I manage symptoms naturally though nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes.

It’s different for everyone. I haven’t had any side effects, it has reduced my symptoms and I feel a thousand times better

Also in peri with regular periods. Oestrogen in gel and patch form makes me feel awful after a few days. I feel shaky, jittery and have a low mood. I feel calmer and sleep better taking the 100mg daily progesterone only. I appear to be the exception rather than the rule though! It seems to only happen to very few. Most like oestrogen rather than progesterone.

I put on lots of weight.
progesterone seems to make me grumpy and anxious!

Getting your life back!

I can't think of any I've had.

That was exactly my reaction. And it was very expensive bio identical hormones from a specialist private clinic.

I went on evorel sequi patches in peri, then switched to conti a couple of years later. It was totally life changing for me.
I tried every herbal remedy going prior to that.
I never want to come off it, but manage with half a patch now.

I think it depends it your symptoms, and possibly your age. I had horrendous joint pains, it helped so much it was really life changing. It helped with flushes etc too, but they weren't as debilitating as the joint issues, so I'd been coping with those anyway.

I'm mid forties. Still having periods although my cycle has been all over the place. Symptoms were drop in sex drive, fatigue, brain fog, lack of focus, memory issues. No flushing as yet luckily.
