At what point is heavy bleeding too much?

I have a 4cm submucosal fibroid. I had surgery last year to remove it plus an ablation. The surgery was a failure bc the fibroid couldn’t not be fully taken out due to where it is located. They got about half of it at the time. Thing improved temporarily but have slowly gotten worse over 18 months.
I am having periods every 24 days and periods last up to 10 days. Most days are heavy going through a super plus and pad within a hour or so. The clots are massive. I’m going through boxes of protection at at time. It slows down then starts back with avengance and I’m sidelined from many things bc it’s all so unpredictable. Today after 5 days so far of pretty horrific bleeding I feel horrible- weak and woozy and tired.
my ferritin had just risen from 6to 17 and I feel like this latest episode just made it tank again.
I’ve tried tranaxemic acid but it just compounds the size of the clots.
My surgeon just checks is in with me every three months to see what we will do next feel like he is pushing off an actual next step everytime in hopes I’ll hit menopause soon (I’m 52) as it is expected the fibroid will shrink.
I don’t think he fully understands the extent of the blood loss….is there a point at which this becomes actually serious???

What have they said about a Mirena coil? It was my saviour. I didn’t realise how bad my periods were as it crept up on me over the years. The flooding I put down to me not managing my tampax/pads better, when actually I was flooding and had no control.
Has the surgeon mentioned hysterectomy, or is that a no no?

njshep,
How are you feeling today? Do you have heavy clots and bleeding for the 10 days? I'm also on Tranaxemic acid, better than nothing. Reduced some of my bleeding, I have been having heavy bleeding every month, for a few years now. And didn't take anything for it. I think because of the horrible COVID, I was afraid to go out and see the GP. I was anaemic. Remember to eat iron rich food with vitamin C food or drink. I missed out on that over the years. It was junk food!😮Something I never knew about, at my age!! I don't eat red meat much, but read it can also increase more fibroids. So I don't know what is true or false. Also women eat all sorts of processed food and never had problems. Maybe we are the unlucky ones. Colleagues, friends never experienced this. Spoke to a friend, she is just having light periods that is all.
I'm assumed I'm coming to menopause when it was light last month. But just last week, it came back. Also my gut, bowel is playing up too. I'm 53.
I agree with DustyLee123, GP said if that doesn't work, I could try the coil.

I watched 'This Morning' last week. A doctor said to a patient with Fibroids, avoid surgery, only extreme cases and if necessary.
