Weight and starting HRT after menopause

Those of you who started HRT after menopause and had already put on noticeable weight pre HRT, could you tell me if you put more on with HRT or if it helped you lose some?

i was on hrt for a while in my late 40s during perimenopause for migraines. When I stopped I was still in peri but I noticed immediate weight gain. Post meno the weight gain got much worse and won’t shift .

thanks

How old are you now?

There's a lot of discussion about weight gain and HRT. The science shows there is no connection. Often, it's the TYPE of HRT and the dose that can cause fluid retention and often settles down after a few months.

My own experience is that I did start HRT post meno and haven't put on weight (16 years on HRT) but I have to be VERY careful with what I eat (low carb every day.)

What's your reasons for wanting to try hrt now?

Thanks I’m nearly 55. It’s complicated as I have longer term health issues that muddy the water but I have all the classic stuff - hot flushes and hear intolerance, fatigue , anxiety, aches and pains. It might help it might not. The weight gain immediately after stopping her in péri does make me wonder if it could help with that too.
